How to register your DIAN numbering resolution
The numbering resolution is the DIAN’s permission for you to number your invoices. It defines a prefix, a range of numbers and a validity period. Without one you cannot issue anything.
Almost every field on this screen comes from the resolution the DIAN gave you. The technical key is the exception: it lives in the DIAN portal, in the electronic invoicing section, next to your resolution.
Before you start
- You must have completed enablement — see How to get enabled with the DIAN.
- Have the resolution PDF in front of you.
The fields, one by one
Document type : What this resolution covers: sales invoice (the everyday one), credit note (to void or correct an accepted invoice), or debit note (to charge an additional amount). Register one resolution per type you will issue.
Resolution number
: The number the DIAN assigns, no spaces. Example: 18764000001.
Resolution date : The date the DIAN issued it.
Prefix
: The letters in front of each invoice number. Example: FE, SETP. Copy it
exactly, including capitals. It must be the same prefix you associated
with your technology provider in the DIAN portal.
Range from and Range to
: The first and last number the DIAN authorized — e.g. 990000000 to
995000000. DeusRex assigns consecutives inside that range, in order and
without gaps.
Valid from and Valid to : The resolution’s validity period. Outside those dates the DIAN rejects every invoice issued under it.
Form 1876 does not print the end date: box 38. Vigencia carries a number of months — the DIAN authorizes 6, 12, 18 or 24 depending on your profile — counted from the formalization date. Pick the period and we compute the end date for you.
Technical key
: A 40-character code the DIAN ties to your resolution. Example:
fc8eac422eba16e22ffd8c6f94b3f40a6e38162c. It is required: the DIAN uses
it to verify each invoice is authentic, so a single mistyped character
rejects all of them. Copy it whole, with no spaces.
It does not appear on form 1876. It is generated in the DIAN portal, under Generación de Clave Técnica — see How to get enabled with the DIAN.
⚠️ Generating a new key invalidates the previous one. Update it here the same day or your invoices will be rejected.
Important warnings
Watch both the expiry date and the range. When either runs out you cannot invoice until the DIAN issues a new resolution. Request it weeks ahead.
Do not edit the prefix or the range of a resolution that has already issued invoices. Create a new resolution instead. Changing them leaves your numbering inconsistent with the DIAN’s records.
Tip
When the DIAN issues your next resolution, register it in DeusRex before the current one runs out. You can keep both; only one stays active per document type.
