How to organize modules and lessons
A course’s content lives in modules, and each module holds lessons. A module is a chapter; a lesson is a class.
A lesson can be one of three types: Video, Reading or Quiz.
Create a module
- Open the course and go to the Modules tab.
- Click Add module.
- Type the module name.
- Click Create.
The Modules tab is disabled while the course is unsaved.
Add a lesson
- Open the module with the arrow button.
- Click Add lesson.
- Enter the Lesson title.
- Choose the type: Video, Reading or Quiz.
- Click Add.
Edit a lesson
- Click the lesson to open its editor.
- Write its content.
- Click Save.
Use Student view to see the lesson exactly as whoever takes it will.
⚠️ Changing a lesson’s type locks the content until you save the change. That is deliberate: a quiz and a video do not store the same thing.
Video lessons
Upload the video from the lesson editor and wait for it to finish processing. Two things stay disabled until then:
- Generate subtitles — subtitles come from the video’s audio.
- Generate summary — the summary comes from those subtitles.
Subtitles are free. The summary spends credits.
Tip
Build the full skeleton of modules and lessons first, and fill in the content afterwards. Seeing the whole course before writing it saves you from reordering it later. AI can build that skeleton for you: see How to use AI in a course.
